FUZZ Newsletter - SUMMER 2008

Summer is here - and although my garden loves it - I am wishing for Fall!

I have been terrible at not getting a newsletter out - and I do apologize.  Just weeks after my mother got moved here and settled, she passed away very suddendly and I have been dealing with all the 'stuff' that goes with losing a parent.

My greatest thanks to Jo and Donna and Adela and Jill, and all the rest who pitched in to keep the shop open, handled all the details, and helped me through this experience.  Friends and family are one of our greatest gifts.

This has taught me not to waste a day, not to take the things that matter most in life for granted. And, to live your dream, becuase you never know when it will all go away.

So - on to my news from the shop!

we are now able to print out any Louet pattern for you—and they have some awesome ones. We as a shop are subscribing to this service to have access to a great catalog of patterns.

We have a 20% sale going on this week - July 19th through 26th.

There wil also be a 'secret sale' in August - come in and find out what this will be.

The second Duets kit (from Mt. Colors and Lorna’s laces) is in .—and it is a sock kit designed by Cat Bordhi!  These are limited edition kits, and we ordered all the colorways. We expect them to go fast, so check with us if you want one.

Weeks Dye Works threads are ordered, along with Caron Watercolors. So those should be in within the month. We now carry Bird Brain Designs (redwork), and My Big Toe Desings (cross stitch).

Did you know---?

you may have heard that vinegar and water will set colors. While this will work for dyes that used an acid mordant (a mordant is an agent that allows the dye molecule to react with the fiber).  With dyes that used an alkali mordant - vinegar may not work.  Try rinsing in several baths of cool to lukewarm water until no color is bleeding out. Red is usually the worst, but any strong saturated color is a suspect.

We have made the decision to expand our cross stitch and needlework. This will happen over the next year. Krenik has been added, and Gentle Arts threads and Caron are next on the list, along with the ability to order any  fabrics you need. Rainbow Gallery is available and we are also looking at expanding the Thread Gatherer line.

We have Sweetheart Tree Designs—little portable cross stitch—perfect for trips to the mountains or beach. They come with everything to stitch in a little box, so you are ready to go. They  range from initials (perfect for a small pillow or to announce a new baby!) to lovely Welcome signs and fun summer designs.

Another new find is the petite Sajou kits—a French embroidery  kit that makes into a treasure box—to hold a special ring, or other memento. This kit is quick to complete, and very unusual.

If you have suggestions that you know your needle group uses, we would love to hear  from you.  We are looking at Nora Corbett designs, Mirabella, and many others, so if you have a favorite tell us and we will try to accommodate.
